Naturopathic doctors (NDs) are not the same as naturopaths. Both have different levels of training, accreditation, regulation, and potential for licensure. There are 6 accredited naturopathic medical programs in North America who are accredited by the Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges (AANMC). Dr. Conan resides in the state of Virginia, which is currently an unlicensed state for naturopathic doctors. Thus, his role is that of support, education, advocacy, and collaboration. As a licensed practitioner on the West Coast, Dr. Conan has worked in the capacity of a PCP and maintained prescriptive authority within the scope of practice for NDs.
